Physical Education

Feynman School provides a fun and safe physical education experience for middle school students. Sports is one of the best tools to teach the skills necessary to succeed in life. Self-discipline, determination, teamwork and good sportsmanship are only a handful of the many valuable life skills learned through sports participation. We teach the importance of good sportsmanship on the field and in life and provides a fun, safe experience, in which students can learn basic athletic skills, good sportsmanship, and increase their self-esteem.

Beyond the Athletic Curriculum

We believe that physical, emotional, and intellectual growth are inextricably linked. Research has shown time and again that physical movement is important, not only for the creation of healthy life habits and improving mood, but also for supporting the brain. Knowing this, our focus on movement goes beyond our athletic curriculum. Our students do not spend their days sitting at a desk – in fact, you will not see desks in any of our classrooms. Students work at work stations around the room and are encouraged to find the working style that is most effective for them. Lessons incorporate kinesthetic elements so that learning is encoded in multiple formats in the brain. Teachers are trained in techniques for incorporating movement throughout the day and brain breaks between classes ensure that students are able to maintain focus.
